Prof. Graziano Pesole is the Director of the Institute of Biomembranes and Bioenergetics, CNR, and Full Professor of Molecular Biology at the University of Bari "A. Moro". The major topics of his research activity are bioinformatics, comparative genomics and molecular evolution. His interests include molecular evolution and computational approaches for the structural and functional analysis of nucleotide sequences, particularly focused on the identification of regulatory elements in non-coding genome regions, transcriptome profiling including the study of alternative splicing, RNA editing and the functional analysis of untranslated regions of eukaryotic mRNAs, the assessment and functional characterization of the microbiome in clinical and environmental samples.
