After the success of the first edition, we would like to inform and invite you to submit a contribution to the second on-line workshop "Young Minds at Work: Blending Biochemistry and Bioinformatics", which will be held on December 10th-12th, 2024. The conference will bring together young investigators (PhD students, postgraduates, post-docs and master students) from all biomedical disciplines and will offer a great chance for young scientists to promote their research, exchange knowledge and share their own ideas.
The on-line workshop aims at integrating bioinformatics, computational biology and biochemistry disciplines, encouraging, generating, and strengthening a collaborative network and meaningful interactions amongst young scientists that have different skills, promoting future projects and collaborations.
The event will offer the opportunity to young researchers to submit contributions and participate to training sessions in computational biology that will be held in collaboration with the Italian training platform ELIXIR (elixir-iib-training.github.io/site/).
The participants will assess networks of protein-protein interactions within a cell, called "interactome", that provides information about the organization of the cell and allows the identification of proteins and signaling pathways that are disrupted or deregulated during a disease condition. The course will be a thorough and practical example, Cytoscape open-source software and related Apps will be used to extract protein-protein interaction data, visualize and explore and create the network, to detect and find topological properties and potential topological clusters. Results will be used to perform functional network enrichment analysis.
