Titolo:  Unix Shell, R, Version Control with Git - Carpentries workshop at Istituto di Genetica e Biofisica "Adriano Buzzati-Traverso"
Dettagli:

Announcement of the first Software Carpentry Workshop in Napoli, next 11-12 February, at the IGB-CNR.
Here is the link to the course page: mchiapello.github.io/2019-02-11-Naples
The workshop is sponsored by ELIXIR-ITA and is aimed at biologists with little or no prior computational experience. Please check the workshop details below if you are interested.

Workshop details

The Carpentries are a fiscally sponsored project of Community Initiatives. They teach skills that are immediately useful for researchers, using lessons and datasets that allow researchers to quickly apply what they've learned to their own work. We are really excited about using the Software Carpentry curriculum here to help our students/staff/faculty members become more efficient in their research.
This workshop is focused on Reproducible Scientific Analysis. The curriculum will include:
• The Unix Shell
• R for Reproducible Scientific Analysis
• Version Control with Git

The target audience is learners who have little to no prior computational experience, and the instructors put a priority on creating a friendly environment to empower researchers and enable data-driven discovery. Even those with some experience will benefit, as the goal is to teach not only how to do analyses, but how to manage the process to make it as automated and reproducible as possible. For instance, after attending this workshop you will be able to:
• Automate repetitive tasks
• Capture small data manipulation steps that are normally not recorded to make research reproducible
• R data and plot manipulation
• Few easy-to-remember commands to do most day-to-day version control tasks

Space is limited and it will likely fill quickly. The course is free but a no-show-up fee will be charged to your institution if you do not show-up.
