Established in 1986, the Louis-Jeantet Prize for Medicine is awarded each year to experienced researchers who have distinguished themselves in the field of biomedical research in Europe. It is not intended as the consecration of work that has been completed, but rather to encourage the continuation of research projects of major importance to fundamental or clinical medicine.

Candidates for the Louis-Jeantet Prize for medicine must be nominated by scientific personalities (without any family ties with them) or institutions (universities or major agencies funding research) possessing detailed knowledge of their work.

• Self-nominations are not accepted.
• Nominees should not be informed of their nomination.
• Nominations of candidates under 50 are encouraged.
• The deadline for sending in nominations for the 2017 Louis-Jeantet Prize for medicine is set on 15 February 2016.
